Racing is expensive – everyone knows that, so it was a great help to the team when FUCHS Lubricants UK offered a level of support for the campaign that enabled Team FUCHS Titan Race to be formed.  The car will be run from the workshops of Racing Line in Milton Keynes.

The 2010 championship is comprised of fourteen races.  These will be held over seven double header weekends at Oulton Park, the Dutch circuit Zandvoort, Snetterton, Rockingham Speedway and the UK’s three “Grand Prix” circuits Silverstone, Brands Hatch and Donington.  However, at the time of writing, financial difficulties for that last circuit mean that the scheduling of that race remains provisional.

I won’t be racing in all the events.  For a start, my current “novice” status rules out international events such as Zandvort.  But if all goes well, I have enough budget for up to five of the remaining six rounds.

By the middle of January, under the watchful eye of Workshop Manager, Mathew “Matt” Walker, the GTI has been reduced to a pile of its component parts.  The car is in Milton Keynes for its annual off-season re-build and some upgrades.  At home, my in-box pings and the Volkswagen Racing Cup, Bulletin No. 138 arrives with details on how to join the championship.  This is my first time on the distribution list for this redoubtable document and the importance of it all makes my heart beat a little faster.  I read everything twice, just to be sure.

One thing that I have no trouble understanding is the Championship Entry Form; time to get out the black biro and block capitals.
